Charlie Phillips
Carlsbad , CA
  • About
  • Charlie Phillips performs a diverse array of popular cover songs including “classic” and album-oriented rock of the 60's and 70's, radio hits of the 80's, and “alternative” songs of the 90s. Charlie was a veteran of the Philadelphia music scene before moving to Southern California in 2020. A versatile and engaging live performer, his primary instrument of accompaniment is guitar and harmonica, but also plays bass, piano and sitar. Charlie loves taking requests from the audience and has his vast song repertoire facilitates his ability to respond to song requests. Schooled in the popular music of the 60’s and 70’s, he frequently performs “Tribute” shows – including homages to The Beatles (in sum or in parts!), Bob Dylan, The Who, The Rolling Stones, and other “theme” tributes. He is the founding member of the popular Eric Clapton Tribute Band, “The Core”. Charlie has issued 3 CDs of original material. His songs have received airplay on WXPN 88.5 in Philadelphia and other stations across the country. From the blues-rock and reggae flavored “Preacherman” and “Give It Up”, to the Asbury Park blare of “Natural”, to the campfire folksiness of “Donny T” and “Wealth of Friends”, his heartfelt and melody-driven songs leave the listener singing after the song is over. Also a yoga teacher, Charlie adds the contagious ingredient of his positive and hopeful “spiritual realism” into his recordings (evident in songs such as “Little Things” and “What It Is”) as well as his live performances.
